Danny Wong: 3 Tips on How to Work Smarter (Not Harder)
It’s not about pushing more hours, longer days, and endless weeks that meld together because you sacrifice your weekends. Working smarter is about being more efficient with your time and knowing what you need to do, when you need to do it, and if you need to do it at all. Here are some tips that can save you time and (hopefully) money:
3 Tips on How to Work Smarter (Not Harder)
1. Don’t do anything and everything.
There’s not enough time in the world to get everything done. You have to prioritize your to-do list and make sure you’re making valuable use of your time, and not just doing the next thing that falls into your lap.
2. Do the things you’re really good at and be remarkable.
If you’re really great at something, why would you do less of it? If it’s really effective, do more of it! Specialization will allow you to greatly improve your skills and your talent; you can produce far greater results because you’re focusing more time on the things that you’re best at, and you’re figuring out ways to be even better at those things.
3. Be innovative and try new things.
You must not get stuck in the mindset that what you’re doing works so you should stick with that and only that. This may sound contrary to point #2, but it’s not. You should give yourself some time to try and learn new things to see what else can product results for your company. Just make sure you’re properly measuring your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
