Intelligent.ly: SQL for Non-Developers, A Gentle Introduction

Cost:
$40
Location:
Intelligent.ly Campus 500 Harrison Ave Boston, MA 02118
Description:

Level: This class is for non-technical students who are totally new to SQL. The class is designed for marketing, business development, CEOs, and other roles which need data to do their jobs, but are dependent on an IT person to get to it.

This is a small group session and is limited to 15 students.

What You'll Learn: This class will teach you enough SQL to be able to write a query and pull data out for analysis. We'll start at the very beginning with what a database is (simple/obvious questions are encouraged!). We will then show you how to use a program to query a live database from your computer. The class will then go through a few examples of how to perform a few common queries and load the results into Excel or a Google doc. By the end of this class, you'll know how to:

  • Understand what a database is
  • Write a basic SQL query
  • Export data from a database into Excel

Drew will show you how to perform queries on your computer, so you will need to bring a laptop.  In addition, there's a (free) program students will need to install before class.  I will send around a guide with links to download it.

This class is part of the Tech for Marketers bundle. Other classes in this bundle include:
