Luckily after a few months, I realized how to use web to not only strengthen my connections established through networking events, but to also bring the networking game to the web. Many people ask me whether they should pursue social media marketing on both Facebook and Twitter. Unfortunately, Twitter and Facebook are not a perfect fit for every company. I’ve compiled a quick cheat sheet for reference if you are questioning your efforts on the social media front.

Last month Mike Volpe of Hubspot wrote a post condemning social media. Though I was offended at first, I now see his point of view. I decided to explore one of his ideas—“hiring an intern to do social media won’t transform your company.” Thinking about this one sentence made me realize that he’s right. A social media intern doesn’t really help your company. In fact, it can actually hurt you. Here’s why:
